From Our Perspective - Egyptian Mau' s are very mischievous character and very sensitive so it is not recommended to keep them outside (except if the yard is fenced and secured).
They like all the members of the household and love to play with other people and with all other animals. With dogs are the best friends. They are only dangerous to insects, so you’ll never have a problem with fly's, moths etc. They are active by the whole day but not boring, can play with ball or any another toy. They know to respect your time, especially when you eat and sleep. It is very easy to teach them where can they climb and where not. They are very good behaving and you need to tell them only once not to do certain thing.
As for the food, they are very pickable, like only the most quality food, live or nicely prepared meat. Do not like greasy food and offal. Like vegetables very much, like corn, pea, carrot, mushrooms, onion and paprika (from food).
Each time you come home, Mau will be glad and will wait for you at the gates as a dog. Every morning, it will wait until you woke up and then will come to see you with expectation for some care. Mau will make you company (it is going to help in the kitchen, especially when you are preparing meat :). It will take every opportunity to lay to sleep on sheets you have downloaded from the beds or any part of your wardrobe.
Mau is very intelligent. With less than a year they can understand more than 250 words. The more you talk with them, the more they will memorise. They learn very fast and easy. On certain sounds react currently – like fridge door opening.
It is going to do all for your love and attention. If you get mad on it because of something, it will wait until you invite it to reconcile but note that they are very sensitive, scary and gentle and very easy they can retreat into itself if you are too rough toward it.
